Starting from the Early Childhood Center, our students are encouraged to participate in the learning process. Our standards-based program provides the students with the knowledge they need to grow and succeed. Through traditional classroom instruction and hands-on centers, children are not only taught academic skills, but life skills such as time management, responsibility, and organization.
At Ohr Chadash Academy, we strive to make each lesson impactful, excellent, meaningful, and rich. By taking an inquiry-based approach in most academic areas, our students will have a greater understanding of the world they work, communicate, learn, and live in. Inquiry-based learning mainly involves the learner and leads him to understand. Inquiry allows students to ask questions about new resolutions and issues while they are gaining new information. This approach goes from the traditional concept of “I do, you do, we do” to “you do, we do, I do.”
Ohr Chadash Academy’s curriculum includes the following areas:
Chumash
Mishna
Navi
Chagim
Tefilah
Ivrit
Reading
Language arts
Mathematics
STEM
Social studies
Technology
Art
Physical education
Being an OCA S.T.A.R.
Here at Ohr Chadash Academy, we believe our students to be exceptional. Each student is encouraged to:
Stay safe
Treasure Torah
Aim high
Respect oneself and others
Whether in class, in the lunchroom, on a trip, or at a special, students are encouraged and rewarded for being an OCA S.T.A.R. Students seen demonstrating the S.T.A.R. qualities are given star stickers. At the end of the month, stars are counted, and certificates are rewarded accordingly.
OCA Ikarim
It is our goal to imbue the importance of the OCA Ikarim (Essentials) to our students. The Ikarim provide the children guidance for being a S.T.A.R. and foster a positive school community.
