Academics

Fifth grade

Preparing for middle school

Fifth Grade serves as the culmination of the elementary experience. Students demonstrate increasing independence, leadership, and maturity while preparing academically and socially for Middle School.

Judaic studies

Students continue advanced study of Chumash, Rashi, Mishna Sukkah, and Sefer Shoftim applying skills learned in previous years. In fifth grade, they complete their study of Sefer Bereishit.

Tefillah emphasizes meaningful participation, fluent davening, and student leadership. Through Bishvil HaLashon, students strengthen modern Hebrew reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension while developing confidence using Hebrew to communicate with others.

General studies

CKLA prepares students for Middle School through sophisticated reading comprehension, analytical writing, research, vocabulary, grammar, and evidence-based discussion. Reveal Math strengthens work with decimals, fractions, numerical expressions, geometry, and real-world problem solving. Students will learn operations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; volume; measurement; geometry; and numerical relationships.

As students prepare for the mathematical thinking of Middle School, Reveal Math gives them opportunities to reason, model, persevere through challenging problems, communicate their thinking, and connect different mathematical representations, strengthening both fluency and conceptual understanding.

Mystery Science includes ecosystems and food webs, the water cycle, Earth and space patterns, stars and planets, chemical reactions, properties of matter, and research projects, while Social Studies explores early American civilization, western expansion, and the colonial era.
